The far left, which more and more is the predominate main stream of the liberal Democrat party, does not like free speech.  If you have any doubt, Democrat Sen. Jeff Bingaman has told us so.   He wants government to force a "balance" to talk radio.  Liberals do not want to be forced to defend their leftist views but simply shut down their opposition.  What other reason is there for wanting the Government to restrict freedom of speech.

"If enacted, the Fairness Doctrine (which is anything but) would create logistical nightmares for radio programmers, leading quickly to shuttered stations," according to  Brian Maloney. "The need to 'balance' every viewpoint presented would also destroy the entertainment value of talk radio."  This means for every Conservative speaker, the radio programmer would be forced, by law, to allow a left speaker on the radio.  Whether boring or ranting, the station would be "forced" to subject their audience to what they are not interested in hearing.  They would be forced by law, to run off their own audience.

The Fairness Doctrine, which by definition,  is not "fair", would not effect what we hear on CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, or CNN or AlJazeera.  It would not effect movies, TV sitcoms/drama or cable programming.   But only to  radio where Conservative talk is predominate.  Conservative radio, unlike the failing, liberal Air America, has a huge audience, because it fills a vacuum left by the liberal media.  The Fairness Doctrine is anti everything American stands for.  It is just what the Democrats will enact with an Obama win.  Speaker Pelosi has already said as much.

This is what they do in communist countries, Sen.
Bingaman!
