A major earthquake occured in China.  It hit a region that produces 90% of the middle east's rice supply.  Now that there will be a shortage of rice going to the Arab countrys, the employees moral will be down since they won't get their rice pudding and multi-grain breads.

To offset this shortage the price of oil will go up in order to pay the workers more.

The idea crossed the mind of Mark Alford when Nick Vassos was giving out the location of cops running radar.  Don't give those wreckless drivers a clue to where the cops are running radar.  They are the same ones that crash into the back of you when you have to slow down and they are driving to fast and to close.

Don't feel sorry for them when you see them all crashed out on your way to work in the morning.  lol have a great day!

  Hello,

Wow it's March already and time sure does fly!  Today (03-20-08) is one of the first warm days of this year and we're already seeing problems.

I just watch the lively Ms. Carto report on the noon news of the rolling gun battle which ended in a crash at 63st and Brookside.  As luck would have it nobody got killed or seriously hurt.  They got one suspect in custody and the other one got away.

With the alleged Kansas City, mastermind, crime boss, and head honcho of gangs  Shantay Henderson behind bars who are they going to blame on the crime wave this year?

   Stay tuned........

KC picks new municipal judge

Katherine Emke, an assistant prosecutor for domestic violence cases in Kansas City Municipal Court, was selected today to serve as a judge in that court.

The City Council voted 8 to 4 to select Emke over local defense attorney Ardie Bland. A third candidate was Eddie Medina Lorenzo, a staff attorney for Legal Aid of Western Missouri.

Council members praised all three candidates as being eminently qualified but those who supported Emke emphasized her experience and knowledge of the court. She worked part-time in the prosecutors office from 1994 to 2005 and full-time from 2005 to the present.

In her interview with the council, Emke said she hoped to make probation more successful by making the court more sensitive to defendants who cannot afford monitoring costs or fees for programs such as drug counseling, anger management or even community service.

Those people often don’t show up for court dates out of fear, which leads to arrest warrants and further compounds their problems, Emke said. If funds are available more of those programs should be done through the court instead of through other agencies, she said.

She also said she was sensitive to the fact that minorities receive more citations that end up in municipal court.

“You know there’s racial profiling (by police) going on,” Emke said. “It’s the secret no one wants to talk about but it’s out there.

Supporting Emke were Mayor Mark Funkhouser and council members Jan Marcason, Cindy Circo, Cathy Jolly, Beth Gottstein, Deb Hermann, Bill Skaggs and Russ Johnson. Supporting Bland were council members John Sharp, Terry Riley, Melba Curls and Sharon Sanders Brooks. Ed Ford was absent due to an injury.

I was just surfing the web and decided to read the KC star.  I was disturbed to read that the downtown Power and Light district still won't be fully open and functional by the Big 12 this spring!

I never bought the idea that it was delayed from the initial grand opening in October by request from the tenants.  I'm down there every day and it's obvious that they couldn't have a grand opening even if they wanted to.

I hope the city officials are fuming behind closed doors because they haven't spoken badly about the delays publicly.  Wayne Cauthen has been reportedly saying that a partial opening by spring still marks a success.  Well I believe it's my and your tax dollars at work and he doesn't speak for me.

What are the reasons for delay?  Are there penalties against Cordish Company for this delayed work?  What is the city doing about this?

I'm tired of the secrecy displayed by the Cordish Company on many levels and the lack of explanation as to what is going on and why, who the tenants are, where they are at in finding a professional team to call the Sprint Arena home, etc.

It seems as though everyone is scared to ask the tough questions.  Afraid that the Cordish Company will just pack up and leave if they are offended!

Fox 4 can you look into this and bring this issue to light?  I think tough questions need to be asked and the people have the right to know.

National Holiday today celebrating Martin Luther King and all of his achievements and we have a group of "activists" and "citizens" spinning this occasion to stir the craziness.  The decision by the judge to find in favor of the officers has made alot of people upset.

I read the article by Fox 4 and just shook my head when I read some of the things that the demonstrators were saying.  Although I wasn't shocked I'm just still amazed on ignorant people are.

You have a judge who was neutral in this case.  Who reviewed all of the facts and the looked over the investigation.  He even reviewed policies set out by the Police Dept.  His discovery found that the recomendation by the chief to fire the officers was vague and inappropriate.  I guess they are now accusing the judge of being part of the great white conspiracy.  They stated that if it was two black officers and a white woman involved this would never happen.  Well I believe if Ms. Salvo was a white woman this would never be as big of an issue as it is today.

  Prediction:

1.  The Police Board will make the decision to terminate the officers. (Who wants the "activists" organizing a lynch mob against them as they did against the mayor?)

2.  The Officers will file a lawsuit and after a couple years they will be allowed to come back to the Dept.  They no doubt will have moved on, but glad to accept their back pay two years to late.

3.  The Police Chief and the Police Board will continue to practice their terroristic tactics by suspending the officers pay until they take their time investigating and while the Board puts off their duty to make a timely decision indefinitely.

Ok we have all seen the christmas lights hanging on houses this time of year.  When is the appropriate time to take them down?

I think anytime past Jan 2nd is too long.  What are your thoughts?

I just have to shake my head when I see houses decorated well into Feb.  I mean the holidays are over and it's a new year.

Now that no charges will be filed against Caleb Horner it's time that the Lee's Summit police department make a decision concerning their officer.  How long has this investigation been going on?  Now that he won't be held accountable for his actions and the death of his wife lets get some closure on this tragedy.  I hope the Lee's Sumit police department does the right thing and fire this officer.

  Mr Horner,

I hope your religion is worth the life of your wife.  Remember your faith when you are injured or face a life threatening illness!

Alas, summer is upon us once again.  Not because we go outside on our porch and it's a little warmer.  Not because Pungsatony Phil (I'm sure misspelled) didn't see his shadow or that our calender says so.  What rings in the new season is how the level of shootings has risen and are being reported on TV.

We had our second day of real decent weather and the count stands close to 1 confirmed homicide, about 8 aggravated assaults with a couple that probably will become homicides as the days pass, 1 police chase with numerous police cars being shot up, 3 suspects caught, 2 assault rifles recovered...etc.   Believe me when I say I think the police are doing everything they can to try to even keep up with the insanity over a short period of time.  I'm sure the Equalizer can testify to that as well.

Every year we keep record and the news media reports the amount of homicides that we have.   Last year the count was down from the year before.  What about the number of shootings that we had and the victims never died?  How much did that increase or decrease?  We could have had a 20% increase in shootings last year, but the homicide count was down because less people died from their wounds.  So did crime go down?  When you shoot at someone your trying to kill them.  It's just plain luck that we don't have 8-9 homicides over the last 24 hours instead of 8-9 shootings where the person is going to live.  I think it's just a numbers game when it come to these statistics.  I think it would be a real news shocker if they reported the amount of shootings like they report the number of homicides.

Shame on you Jackson County for not doing what tax payers hire you to do!   Ever whonder why crime is higher in Jackson county then any of the three counties that make up Kansas City?  The answer lies right in front of our face with the case of Lorenzo Gilyard.  If convicted he will be the biggest serial killer in Missouri history and he won't even get the death penalty.  Jackson County has again plea bargined and cut a deal with a defedant and not prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

If anyone deserves the death penalty it's Lorenzo Gilyard.  If we don't demand the death penalty on someone like this then who do we demand it for?  If Jackson County is cutting deals on a case like this then what are they doing with cases of a lesser nature?  No whonder the police feel as though they're fighting a losing battle.  Law Enforcement are doing there job, but the legal system is coming up short with the city and state prosecutors.

I watch, I interact, and I move among you. I'm everywhere and nowhere. I pull the strings, plot and scheme. We all are playing one huge game, but are you on the right team? Are you honest and true to others....yourself? I'm not angry, just a judge in what is right and what is wrong. I don't only speak about this.....I act.
