Well, well, well.  American Idol has come to a close and David Cook has emerged victorious!  I didn't pick him to win it all, but two of my original picks for the top three made it to the top three!  Syesha and David Archuletta.  When I made my top 12 predictions David Cook had not yet put the throwdown on us.  We hadn't seen Billy Jean yet.  Had he done that... I most certainly would have had him winning it all!  The finale was awesome and I am actually looking forward to seeing what this batch of Idol contestants canpump out for music lovers to buy.  But now that David Cook is going to Disney World, what will I do with my Tuesday and Wednesday nights? It's barely over and already I'm having Idol and reality show withdrawal symptoms!

Summer television is not what it used to be -- the boring movie re-runs and lame re-runs of fall and spring shows are gone.  Now we have new television exclusively for the summer!  Which means, being the tv addict that I am, I will never get a chance to really enjoy the outdoors!  Alright, maybe I'm overreacting!  I do have three TiVos after all!

So what are looking forward to in summer TV?

Here's my top list:

So You Think You Can Dance (season 3 for a favorite show), The Mole (one of my favorites is back!), Wipeout (a new competition show for ABC), America's Got Talent (can a ventriloquist take it again?), Million Dollar Password (stakes on that old show just got substantially higher!), Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List (love love love Kathy!), Celebrity Family Feud (that could be super fun!) and Big Brother!

See you around the FOXbox!

Well, well, well. Despite my best attempts and multiple calls for Chikezie, it wasn't enough to save him this week!  The bottom three was Jason, Syesha and Chikezie and my boy went home.  I knew he wouldn't win it, but I thought for sure he had a few more weeks in him.

Syesha FOR SURE didn't deserve to be in the bottom three this week.  I did think Jason should be, but didn't think voters would hang him out to dry.

I think the missing piece this week in the whole voting scheme of things -- David Cook!

He rocked BILLIE JEAN out and I think a lot of folks who wouldn't have voted for him or hadn't voted for him before, DID pick up the phone on that performance!  It was amazing!

But honestly, Chikezie?  Syesha?  Ramiele didn't perform as well as either of them.  David Archuleta was BORING and where was Kristy Lee in the bottom three this week?  Wel in case you didn't know -- someone has adopted her!  Votefortheworst.com is back and campaigning to keep her in -- urging people to vote for her for laughs!  Check out the link if you want!

What do you think?  Blog on bloggers!

Which was the bigger shocker on last night's American Idol?

Was it CARLY IN THE BOTTOM THREE?

or

AMANDA GOING HOME!

Even though I love Amanda's style -- I thought it was only a matter of time before she went, but who could have predicted that Carly Smithson would have been in the bottom three?  WOW!  I'm not the biggest fan of the Irish lass, but I certainly though she'd be there into the top 5.  From my stand point, I thought the style was ridiculous on her -- the rosettes on the salmon top clashed horribly with the arm sleeve of tattoos.  BUT the bigger thing that I think got her, was the Blackbird song choice explanation.  She spent time explaining to Simon how she was the bird with the broken wing because she's been trying to make it in the music industry.  I think people might NOT have voted for her based on that.

I voted a lot for Syesha because I thought she deserved to stay and was worried that her fanbase might not pick up the phone and vote.

They also announced the mentors for this season.  Head over to my video blog (link below) for my full rundown/recap of the last American Idol episode -- and get the dirt on a TMZ rumour making the rounds!

I know, I know!  I haven't written in the blogosphere in a while, but the video blogs take up a lot of my time!  If you haven't clicked on the FOXbox yet to check out the video blogs, you should.  They are pretty funny, if I do say so myself!  I REALLY wish some folks in Hampton Roads would post some video blogs in response!  I'd love to see what you think!

ANYWAY!  Last night the TOP 11 performed, and I have to say, for the most part, they were fairly mediocre performances!  I would pick Syesha and David A and Carly as the cream of the crop last night.  It was really hard for me to pick who would be in the bottom three.  But at last I came up with Kristy Lee, Ramiele, and Amanda.

Click the link below and head over to my video blog to see who I think is going home!

WOW!  What a start to the REAL Season.  The season that starts when we get to vote! Most of the guys came out swingin' on SIXTIES NIGHT! David Hernandez sang "midnight Hour" and I thought he sounded good.  There was a bad note there at the end.  Not a terribly memorable performance though.  #2 was Chikezie Eze.  He sang "More Today Than Yesterday."  I'm still a fan.  But I actually loved him more yesterday than today.  #3 David Cook.  I was shocked when he got into the Top 12 guys. He sang "So Happy together."  I got into it a little, but he screamed a little and really got off by the end.  He was really working the eyes and the camera and for a second I was thinking he was channeling Constantine Maroulis!  #4 Jason Yeager sang" Moon River."  He came off a little cheesy but I think he was generally enjoying the moment.  A little to cabaret for me.  Hello!?!?!?!?!?!?! What about Paula crying about her recital talking about this guy?  Earth to Paula!!!!!!!! It's about the CONTESTANT!   #5 was Robbie Carrico.  He sang "One is the Lonliest Number."  He had a couple of pitchy moments, but I think he was great.  He rocked the song out and it was one of a few of the night that I could having a second life today on the radio.  The boards and the watercoolers are a bouzz with talk of NUMBER 6.  David Archuleta sang "Shop Around."  He was pretty darn good.  Not my cup of tea, but hey.  I can absolutely see the talent and see people voting for him.  He could go very far!  Top three maybe?  Just depends on how handles some other genres.  Danny Noriega came in singing "Jailhouse ROck."  Did not rock this jailhouse.  He had fun.  I didn't have much fun watching him.  #8 was Luke Menard the Luke Perry look-alike.  He sang a song that was so forgettable, that....   #9 was the VIRGINIA BOY COLTON BERRY.  He sang my favorite Elvis tune "Suspicious Minds."  He sounded pretty good but performances-wise... I thought he looked like he was performing in front of a mirror.  Garret Haley was #10.  We hadn't seen him before, but now we have.  He sang "Breaking up is Hard to Do."  He didn't feel the song, he just sang some words.  The voice wasn't horrible, the performance kind of was.   What performance was more than not horrible?  JASON CASTRO.  "What a day for a DayDream"  was the perfect song for him.  He was one of the only ones who really felt the lyrics in the song they were singing.  Loved it.  and Last but not least... Michael Johns sang "Light My Fire."   That was amazing!  A-MA-ZING!  WHoa.  Whew! In TROUBLE:  Luke Menard, Jason Yeager, Danny Noriega and Garret Haley.  Probably going home:  Jason and Danny.

I'm sure you've heard the rumors and the stories! Let's dish about that!First, the Ringers:Apparently, Carly Smithson AKA Carly Hennesy had a record deal with a major label that spent a bunch of money on her album, a revamped single and music video.  End result: less than 400 albums sold.  Deal over.  Then there's the Aussie Michael Johns.  He also apparently had a record deal.  And also the barrel-horse girl I've heard, I had a record deal.  The ex-boy bander Robbie Carrico opened for Britney Spears when he was in his boy band.  And sweet little David Archuleta WON Star Search at age 12!  And thats just what has come out in the first week of the finals!
What do you think?  Is it fair that these singers who've seemingly 'had their chance' get to have another one?  Should it make difference?  Idol basically says 'all's fair in love and Idol.' That since they didn't have record deals when they auditioned 'game on!'
Does it matter?? Should it???
Sound off.

Hey -- it's K.C.!  I made some predictions before the Hollywood rounds began!  Tonight the 24 finalists were revealed.  Let's see how I did in my predictions!  I just scrolled through Monday's predictions and noted if the contestant was a finalist or gone!

Here we go:

From Philly:  I loved Chris Watson!  He was the really cute African-American guy with dreds.  He sang "Follow Me."   GONE!   Also loved Brooke White!  The nanny.  FINALIST!   And even though we didn't see him in the audition rounds.... look for T.J. Simmons!  He was the FOX43 Hampton Roads Idol a couple of years ago.  He was also the Richmond Idol one year and the Iraq Soldier Idol one year. He didn't make it to Hollywood any of those times, but he went to the Philly auditions on his own and made it to Hollywood!  Be on the lookout for T.J. Simmons!  GONE!

From Dallas:   Props to Zpia!  She was the backup singer that sang 'Give Me One Reason.'   GONE!   Also in Dallas -- Kady Malloy.  She did the impersonation of Britney Spears and sounded just like her.  But when she sang as Katie, she was awesome. FINALIST!

From San Diego:  Perrie Cataldo is a sentimental favorite.  He was the single dad who's little one fell asleep on him during the interview.  He sang 'I Can Love You Like That.'  GONE!!!     I also love Michael Johns -- the Aussie who sang 'I've Been Lovin' you Too Long.'  FINALIST!      And then there's Carly Smithson from Ireland.  She had an amazing voice.  She was the girl who was disqualified in season 5 for not having a visa. FINALIST!!

From Charleston:  I'm looking for Jeffrey to go pretty far.  He was 1/2 of the brother/sister team that got through.  They were very fun and made for good t.v.  But he had the stronger voice and personality.   GONE!   I also liked London Weidberg.  Tall blonde girl with a wonderful voice.  We saw her walking on the beach with her mom talking about the death of her father.  GONE!!!

From Omaha:  I loved the arm-wrestler chick.  She sang a country song and I really think she can do it in Hollywood.  GONE!!   Also Leo.  He was the last contestant we saw in Omaha.  He sang a Donny Hathaway song.  Loved his voice.  GONE!!

From Miami:  Robbie Carrico! Robbie Carrico! Robbie Carrico!  Did I mention Robbie Carrico?  He was the ex-boy bander who had the long hair under the black hat.  He made it through and got attacked by his family and friends with silly string when he came out of the audition.  I really loved him!  FINALIST!!!     And Suzanne Toon -- she was the single mom with the little girl!   GONE!!  And last from Miami, I like Syesha Mercado.  She had the story about her dad recovering -- he was on camera with her and had a hard time talking.  I really liked her audition, too!  FINALIST!!!!!

From Atlanta:  I know you remember Asia'h Epperson!  Her dad died 2 days before the audition.  She sang 'How Do I' with such heart. Great voice, great performance.  FINALIST!!!!      Then there was Alexandrea.  She was just 16 years old and sang 'My Funny Valentine'.  Really mature voice.  FINALIST!!!!     And finally in Atlanta, I really liked Amanda.  The biker/nurse with the kicking hair!  She sang Janice Joplin's 'Mean Woman'.  LOVED HER!  Total Package!  FINALIST!!!!

From the Best of the Rest Episode:   JoAnn was the plus-sized model who sang a Celine Dion song.  Again total package!  FINALIST!!!!    And last but not least!  Chikezie!  He auditioned last season but Randy apparently 'wasn't feelin' it dawg,' and he didn't make it through.  This year all the judges were feeling it and so was I  He sang Luther as good as Luther!   FINALIST!!!!!

That's it!  I didn't do too badly!!!  I am pretty pleased considering I didn't even see some of the ones that made it into the top 24.  How did you guys do??

Hey -- it's K.C.!  I am so excited that A.I. is finally hitting the Hollywood rounds!  I love the drama and the way many of them seriously raise their games!  Before the Hollywood Rounds started I wanted to run down my favorites to watch in Hollywood.

Here we go:

From Philly:  I loved Chris Watson!  He was the really cute African-American guy with dreds.  He sang "Follow Me."   Also loved Brooke White!  The nannay who sang the Corrine Bailey Rae song.  And even though we diddn't see him in the audition rounds.... look for T.J. From Atlanta:  I know you remember Asia'h Epperson!  Her dad died 2 days before the audition.  She sang 'How Do I' with such heart. Check out all the contestants at the American Idol Home page!

That's it!  Those are my predictions for who I think will really stnad out in Hollywood.  And here are my surebets to make the top 24:  Brooke White the nanny; Zpia the backup singer; Michael Johns the Aussie; Carly Ireland visa denied girl; Robbie Carrico the boybander; Suzanne Toon the single mom; and Asia'h Epperson whose dad died before the audition.

What do you think Hampton Roads?

Welcome to Miami!  A.I. hit South Beach and showed us the most talent in a single epsiode so far this season!  My tops for the show: Really loved the ex-boy band guy with the long hair/black hat.  He sang a little Bon Jovi and , well, I am a Jovi girl!  I really loved the silly string attack from the family when he came out the door!  I liked Brittany -- she was the second of the two big "sisters-who-weren't-really-sisters."  She sang 'My Guy' and had a very soulful beautiful voice!  I lied her better than Corliss. the other one.  And my favorite of the night was the single mom.  As a mom I really teared up listening to her story and feeling her pain of wanting to do better by her daughter.  I was hoping for the best when she opened her mouth to sing.  She sang 'I Can't Make You Love Me'.  REALLY liked her voive and thought she had a littl eof the IT factor working for her!  I am naming SUZANNE TOON as a finalist!

Random thoughts: Ghaleb from Venzuela!?  I couldn't understan a thing... and didn't think his voice was all that great.  No chills from me!  And how about the American Juniors girl??? Julie Dubela...  I was like: Somebody Puh-lease get the hook!  I think she even forgot someo of the words early on in the song.  No. NO, no, no, no!

Next week: Idol hits HOT-lanta!

Well -- my video blog says it all!  Omaha left a lot to be desired, but how about the fact that last week in major cities they showed us a FEW people who were good enought to make it through out of the 20+ who got golden tickets.  And this week 19 make it through abd they show us only winners (save a few bad eggs).  There's no rhyme or reason to how the producers put this show together!  At any rate!  My favorites from Omaha were: the arm-wrestling girl who sang the country song; the rocker dude who sang a Bon Jovi tune and Leo at the end with the Donny Hathaway song.  Honroable mention for no talent goes to Johnny.  The guy with the gold jacket.  When he started Shout with that big note... I thought "alright, here we go!"  And then: bad.  Maybe if he had stopped the jumping and flailing around, he would have had enough breath to hit some of those notes.  Tomorrow it's on to Miami!  See ya around the FOXbox!

The Idol Search rolls on!  San Diego was apparently bringing the talent, even though viewers didn't get to see that much of it!  You'll remember that Philly sent 29 people to Hollywood and Dallas only sent 24.  San Diego sent 31 through to the Hollywood round.

My top three with talent:  Samantha!  She was one of what I like to cal the S.W.L.S. aka Sisters Who Love Simon.  They were over the top with their professed affection for the judge many love to hate.   But frankly her sister gave her the worst review of all --joining Simon Randy and Paula on the panel during the audition.  The judges that count loved her and so did I.  Next for me was Carly from Ireland.  She auditioned and made it in Season 5 and then was DQ'd because of VISA issues.  She sang "I'm Every Woman" and tore it up.  I really really really think she will go all the way to the finals. And finally for me -- the greatest story of the night: Perrie Cataldo.  The single dad.   He sang the Boyz II Men song "I'll Make Love to You."  I LOVED him.  He sounded great.  The kid is adorable, the mom dying, the song.  Uh!  Good stuff!

There were only a couple of non-talent folks to mention.  Alberto Hurtado was the "big fan."  So sad.  Sometimes, I wonder why the producers have to play up some of these stories that are just sad.   31 people went through, let's see some of them.  The only other one I thought was good was Blake Boshnack.  That's the Statue of Liberty guy from Season 5.   He really wasn't that bad and I love his attitude.  He has auditioned 11 times.  11 times.  He's gonna keep on keeping on.

That's it for Tuesday.  See ya next time!

Day Two of Idol and things are going great. Of course all of my highlights are in the FOXbox on the IDOL Wrap page... but I will hit my top three right here! First, I really liked "Zpia" -- she's the back up singer that looked like she had a tattoo on the side of her head. (Did she? I couldn't really tell!) I thought her voice reminded me a little of Tracey Chapman, especially her song Give Me One Reason. Second, I also really liked Brandon Green. This is the guy who sang She's a Rich Girl (which I LOVE!). This is also the guy that had the WEIRD WEIRD WEIRD thing with saving his fingernail peelings in a plastic baggie. What in the heck is that about?? I am really having a problem NOT thinking about gagging when I think of that baggie. But that said, his voice was GREAT. And the final choice in my top three from Dallas -- Katie Maloy. This is the girl who did the vocal impressions and Simon said she was the best so far this year. I think she was AWESOME.

My tops for the not-so-talented of the night: As a huge Bon Jovi fan, I have to start with Douglas. He's the one who sang Livin' On a Prayer -- or tried to. It was interrupted constantly with weird walking and alleged warm ups. Security escorted him out. Then there was Kyle. The counselor/rocker with the poster of the kids he works with plastered on it. He was wearing "GUYLINER" and sang a Kelly Clarkson song. Alrighty then! And finally the star of this season's upcoming finale: RENALDO!! You have to love the attitude and the ability to work the lame cape and the white winged-hat while singing that song! Surely the season finale will feature the judges and Renaldo singing that soon-to-be hit song: "I am your brother, your best friend forever." See you in the FOXbox!!

Tonight was the night! I posted a video blog in the FOXbox (that's the tab under Inside FOX) but I'll give you a taste! There were some great moments tonight! But where is the talent??

They said 29 people got through to Hollywood from Philadelphia, but as usual, on the show we only saw about ten of them. My favorites (who have talent) have to be: 1) Chris Watson -- long haired African American brother... cute as he could be and LOVE LOVE LOVEd his voice! He sang FOLLOW ME by Uncle Cracker. He's going to the tops! I know it!2) The Nanny, Brooke White -- She sang the Corrine Baily Rae tune and clearly had the most star appeal and natural talent of the night.3) Angela -- She was the girl who had a great voice, singing for her daughter who has Retts Syndrome. She sang SIGNED SEALED DELIVERED I'M YOURS. I did agree with Simon -- a little too affected... but a GREAT voice!!My favorites (with very little talent for singing) have to be:1) Princess Leia Chick (DUH!)2) Cricket Guy (chirp chirp chirp!)3) Go Down Moses Guy (Please! Let his people go!)
What do you think!!!!!????
