It's my understanding that oil companies make a profit of around 10% while other companies would feel shame if the only made 10%. I think the problem is they sell a need, the know we'll have to pay what every they charge. Their product influences the price of everything else, and that is just part of the inflation cycle. The last part of the inflation cycle is when companies begin to raise wages. They don't want to do that until they see what the rest of economy is doing, because wage increases can also cause a inflationary cycle when those who have the power to set prices what to get their own increase. Not meaning to sound like a communist but the bigger problem I see is wealth distribution. As the greedy rich folks try to out do their peers. Their power is their drug of choice and just like a junkie there never is enough to satisfy. We need to enforce all the white collar crimes and really jail these politicians and business leaders, let them grow some humility and compassion while going through cold turkey behind bars.
