DOO DAH SILLINESS!

It was an afternoon full of silliness on Friday, March 28, 2008.

Main Street in downtown Norfolk was filled with people who came out during the lunch hour to watch residents and local business people in their goofiest costumes, participate in the annual Doo Dah Parade.

The perfect event just before April Fool's Day!

PETA, The Salvation Army, and The Norfolk Convention And Visitor's Bureau were just some of the participants. The Norfolk CVB actually won first prize for creativity and of course, silliness.

Check out some of the pictures. Oh, and yours truly was one of the judges again this year. How do you like my hat and sunglasses?

Come out next year and act a fool with us!

hi again,
here's a picture of me and constantine from american idol. i caught up with him at 94.9the point when he was on the morning show. shout out to chuck, jenna & woo-woo.
that was fun. constantine is still as cool as he was when i interviewed him in hollywood during the season 5 finale. did you know he's got a job with garnier hair products?
he and chuck talked about their jersey backgrounds. he even spoke to woo-woo about his 'relationship' with season 5's kellie pickler. interesting....
season 7 auditions have wrapped up in philadelphia- now, we must wait for the show to begin in january.

Ok, did y'all see the show last night? The blonde bombshell gets a reality show lesson on being a tv newscaster. Wow. I have to admit- parts of the show reminded me of people I have worked with in my 16 years of on-air experience- but gimme a break. It's funny how many people say they want to be a news reporter because of what they see on the air. They really don't realize it's just a fraction of our job. Once they see what goes on behind the scenes, hopefully folks will have a better appreciation of what we do. And those paychecks? Let's just say when I worked in a market the size of Tyler, Texas- I made the about the same amount of money I made as a waitress at Darryl's Restaurant in Norfolk. But, I wouldn't change a thing- I really was passionate about the news business and I worked (not flirted) my way up the ladder. ;-)
I do plan to watch the show again next week- because although it was annoying at times, it was actually entertaining, too.
