I've needed to apply for help before, and it is humiliating, I'd been unable to work for over a year and was selling off anything somebody would by. All I was asking for was some food stamps and some help with my electric bill. I showed up on time for my appointment and still had to wait for over an hour. While waiting a young woman walked in with a letter she had received and handed it to the receptionist. She was dressed in at least five hundred dollars of designer cloths. with her nails and hair added another couple hundred to her appearance. In a loud voice and very bad english (she was American, speaking in street slag) proudly announced she couldn't read. The receptionist got right on the phone, and in less than the time for her to find a seat a case worker called her back into her cubical. In about thirty minutes she came out smiling taking loudly are her latest cell phone how she'd gotten everything, food stamps, rent assistance, and utility assistance. When I was interviewed I was told that my medical records weren't enough and I would have to provide notarized letters from my family members who had been help me pay my bills, to prove I was broke and about to loose my mobile home. I brought in letters from everybody, family, friends, landlord, churches. Before I got help I had sold my mobile home and had to count that as income, was told that my electric bill was to high and the little bit they could offer wouldn't help so they gave nothing but a denial. Moved into my illegal car (no insurance,exp. plates and inspection) I love America because we give to everyone
