We won already, when are we coming home. 3K on 9-11-01 another 4K since. Almost 30K wounded and untold dead and wounded in other countries. Figures from other countries vary greatly. Our government uses the figure of around 100K, They've lied to us before, so take that figure with a gain of salt. Other agencies that track and report numbers like this vary from 600K to over a million. Only God knows the truth.
There is a movie coming out soon titled "Stop loss". The term is from the world of finance. Say you buy a stock at ten dollars, over the years it goes up and down but never enough to buy more or sell what you already have. Most of the time when you buy a stock a good broker will ask about putting in, a advance "stop loss" order. Basically you tell the broker, that should the stock drop to a predetermined point you will accept the loss up to that point but should it drop below that point you have a order in place to sell that stock and you sell it in order to put a stop on the loss.
I believe, we have reached that point on the war on terror. We have shown the world that we have the military might to destroy a country, we will do it no matter what the rest of the world thinks. We will occupy your country and built over a dozen air bases that we intend to operate for decades like we have and are doing in several other countries (Korea,Germany ect.) in a effort to make you think and believe as we do.
Our losses expressed in military terms when compared to past wars and conflicts seem small, yet you can only say that when the losses didn't hit home. When it does hit home then the losses spread to the family and community as a whole. PTSD effects all, and not just here in America but everywhere, our PTSD, not always, can be soothed by the sense of doing the right thing. PTSD by those we attack can also be soothed by the ideal that they to are doing the right thing in defending their country and then mixed with hatred for being attacked. Emotions, drive peoples actions, greedy people get very emotional about great gains or losses.
This subject is to deep to go into here in a blog, I'm sure there will be books written or maybe there have been some written already. But I don't need to see a movie to know that it is time for us to activate our " Stop Loss" order, and move on.
