Years ago, I read a book titled THE LAST TABOO, SEX AND THE FEAR OF DEATH . The author was a anthropologist and had studied different cultures around the world. His observations of how other people around the world live, came without judgement, and has much as possible went in depth enough for the reader to gain some understanding of the way others live and why. For the last two weeks I've been busy with a couple of funerals, first my grandmother in-law and then my own mother. We ( the families ) mourned and did everything in traditional American style. I normally spend a lot of time paying attention to several different news sources and generally watch what is going on, not that I have any effect on anything,I just like to watch. While my attention was directed toward my own personal losses there was something that happened I would have commented on earlier, but was doing other things.
Has any reader knows I consider the state of America to be pretty sad. Not having paid attention I'm sure I don't have the total story, but the book I read years ago came to mind. for some reason a entire community has been rounded-up and the children put into protective custody, it is my understanding, which could be wrong, but there appears that the government acted on very little information and very little investigation. These people don't live in a typical modern American style. And that must be enough reason to rush in and steal the children. I don't know what the accusations are or how the children were and are now being treated. Why does all this remind me of that book.
The author went in to great detail about a society that was different than any American would consider normal or healthy, yet to members of that society seemed perfectly normal and caused no harm to anyone. Males in this society are considered adult at the age of thirteen, females are adult at their first period. When the females have their first period they are placed in a building and all the other adult females tend to them until it's over, she then remains in the building until all of the adult males have sex with her, when I say all I mean all, uncles, cousins, brothers, and even the father. Should a pregnancy result the child is considered to be everyones child and is cared for by everyone. I don't know if this is where the phrase "it takes a village to raise a child" but it seems to fit. The fact that this is normal there, means that there is no shame, guilt, or embarrassment. There is no government to step in and infer right or wrong. Here in America, the children would be labeled victims and thought of as having been damaged and in need of counseling, the children would be taught that their parents are sick perverts and were inflicting their own kind of brainwashing.
I don't claim to know right or wrong, During the Michael Vick story I was accused of being very judgmental and I can understand someone forming that opinion about my opinions. This so called free society we live in is, to be polite is a joke. We are only free if we play the game according to the rules of the ones who have the power to intimidate us with jail or force or violence. It seems to me that the way it is now is that in order to be free you have to be restrained, is this the ultimate oxymoron.
The natives on this continent lived completely different than we do now, and the Amish still do. Will they be the next to be invaded and subjected to this out of control government. I guess we're just lucky they didn't just burn em out like Waco. Maybe the death toll would have been to high.
