The denial of a insurance claim in the murder of Rebecca Hughes should have been expected. That's just the way insurance companies are. I wish the news article included a e-mail address for AllState so we could express our disgust with their behavior. You know some body in that billion dollar company will get bonuses or salary into the millions just this year, and did last year and will again next year. Actually the way I said that makes it sound as if only one person would get that much, when in reality several people most likely make seven figure incomes every year.
A very close friend of mine had a son murdered in New York city, the insurance claim was paid immediately, Then with one letter from a big law firm here in town ( I don't know if I can name the firm, but their office is right by military circle mall) the insurance company paid the double indemnity part also.
Please follow this sad segment of a already tragic story, should the company stand it's ground, I believe this would be a reason to drop the company as a insurance company permitted to do business in the state of Virginia.
The firm I used to work for dealt with this complex and several others, I have shed many tears about this story and am glad that the firm I worked for voluntarily stepped up to provide man hours to help the entire community in it's darkest hours. All of Hampton Roads should beware of a insurance company that will turn its back on children without even blinking. If this matter has to go to court, the word boycott comes to mind.

Why do people keep blaming allstate? Please name one auto insurance company that pays if you get shot outside a residence? None unless you have some additional coverage. Thats like asking Virginia Lottery to pay me because I was thinking about playing the winning numbers. If you want to take action donate your money to the fund that was set up for her kids and quit complaining about allstate.

While Allstate is the company involved here my comments in general are about the insurance industry as a whole. Allstate just happens to be the company that is legally exploiting their position of power. Corporations do not understand the PR benefits of altruism, which I know sounds like a oxymoron. But to stand on legalities is very short sighted. This isn't like going to a casino and asking to get your losings back.

when i feel, i feel strongly, rights right and wrong is wrong life is simple and good, can't wait to get to heaven, I miss America, The one I learned about in school, No politician should be alloud to spend more than 2 terms in any office, they loose contact with the people they represent, and get corrupted with power. that goes for all offices. from the pres. down to city dog catcher. If they want to make a life of it, then take a term off just to clear their heads and reconnect. If WE THE PEOPLE don't act and I mean now we won't have to worry about global warming, drug abuse, child abuse, tobacco, rap or rock music, aids, the infrostructure, lead in toy paint, fermaldihyde in fema housing, adultry, taxes, loss of rights, wake up folks. historys repeating as we read this. and the prophets told us along ago time all this was going to happen. go hug a tree, become a big brother or sister, join greenpeace or peta. just realize that if you don't vote everybody out, the cancer will spread. But then again, God's timing is perfect
