      Denial of global warming just doesn't sense. I believe those who do, do so for their own reasons. It could be their interests would be negatively effected by admitting their parts in causing it, or they would have to spend money to develop ways to reduce their contributing to it. Maybe they have seen some studies that say it's already too late and they don't see any sense in doing anything other than covering their elite butts as long as possible. 

      I only mention global warming in a flood post because people who know more than I do say that "intense rain fall" has increased by 20% and global warming is linked to the cause. Two 500 year floods in than fifteen years doesn't mean will be safe for the next 985 years. It means that maybe the people who link it to global warming are right and the people who want to still deny it should reexamine their stance. 

Maybe, instead of building levees we should be building gated canals (like the LA river) for miles away from these rivers and lead to large dry reservoirs. (hugh holes in the ground). I know I'm writing in simplistic terms but water distributions is becoming more and more important and what I'm envisioning is sort of a water grid similar to the electric grid. All these floods and no way a managing the water other than sending it down river to a town with shorter or weaker levees seems like a waste as the water destroys what we've built and ends up in the ocean or gulf full of toxic waste from a leveled cities and  towns. Irrigation on a massive scale to illuminate the destruction and waste. Why not?
