This is just SAD. I was going to post the link to the video, but it is just too shocking.

LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) -- Eight teenagers have been arrested on charges alleging they beat another teen in an "animalistic attack" so they could make a videotape to post on YouTube.

Seven of them remained in juvenile detention Tuesday, authorities said. A boy who was charged as an adult had been released on bail.

Victoria Lindsay was attacked on March 30 by six teenage girls when she arrived at a friend's home, authorities said.

One of the girls struck the 16-year-old victim on the head several times and then slammed her head into a wall, knocking her unconscious, according to an arrest report.

Later, according to a clip of the video that was released by the Polk County sheriff's office, the teens can be seen blocking a door and hitting Victoria.

"It's absolutely an animalistic attack," Sheriff Grady Judd said Tuesday on NBC's "Today." "They lured her into the home for express purpose of filming the attack and posting it on the Internet."

Victoria's father, Patrick Lindsay, said the teens intended to post the video on the video-sharing Web site YouTube.

Christina Garcia, mother of one of the defendants, said her daughter had turned the tape over to police.

The sheriff's office said that after the attack, three of the teens forced the victim into a vehicle and drove her to another location, where she was told she would be given a worse beating if she contacted police.

All eight suspects were arrested April 2 and charged with battery and false imprisonment. The three teens who took Lindsay to the second location are also charged with felony kidnapping.

Lindsay was treated for a concussion, damage to her left eye and left ear, and numerous bruises, police said.

I was shocked when I seen the video. I now see it is plastered all over the news, so many have seen it. These little girls (I call them that, because they are not ladies. Just shameless children that wanted to look big), deserve to be treated like adults. Like a gang who robbed and beat up the person. Not to mention they did this as a PRANK? This young lady that had to endure this beating will have to deal with this for the rest of her life. This young lady and her family deserves justice, and anything less will be just wrong!

Ratoon, Thanks for caring. Dad is getting better. He still has a long road ahead. But the Hospital is working with Mom and Dad. They sent him a Heart Monitor that works over the phone so they can get his stats while he is at home. They are trying to make him comfortable, while still keeping an eye on him. I applauded the Hospital on these efforts! It truly shows that the Hospitals in Columbia, MO ROCK!

They will probably get off with a 'stern warning'

I posted this on the chat section of Fox 4.

I really have mixed emotions about this. I do believe there has to be more aggressive punishment for kids, so many are out of control. Adults (at school, home, wherever) should be able to take more of a "hands on" approach. Do I think all parents are to blame for their children’s actions, no. Do I believe there are some parents that are accountable, yes. I have heard people say the schools need to go back to spanking. But I will bet the parents that say do it will be the first ones yelling if their kids get spanked. So what do we do?
The girls in the video that did this to that unsuspecting girl need to be held responsible and have the book thrown at them! That was beyond mean! I heard that one of the parents of the girls that was part of the attack said the girl they attacked brought it on herself. Excuse me!

cntrygirl... In a way, the girl did bring it on herself. She posted some bad dirt on the other girls on her MySpace page.

True, the beat down was over the top. However, I doubt that the girl will ever post anything negative again.

DocDaddy - you have got to be kidding me. Are you really serious that she "brought this on herself?" What world do you live in?

The world in which I live, I like to call that world "common sense", it's not an eye for an eye anymore. If someone does something to me or says something bad about me....it does not give me the right to beat them to the point they have reduced eyesight and hearing. Or to any point for that matter.

The "beat down" as you call it was not only malicious, but was illegal, immoral, and completely outrageous. The girls and boys that participated in this deserve a very harsh jail sentence and I truly hope they sit there and think of their decision every single day for the rest of their lives.

I still say that if parents do not begin being parents, this kind of action from teenagers will only keep increasing. They have no respect for rules or authority. This worries me greatly for our country's future. These kids just don't have a clue about what real life is all about.

Well, BRAVO! Someone FINALLY said something that I agree w/..I do know some good teens, who are respectful and have good intentions. BUT I'm exposed to some bad ones here and there and they scare me.

This was the most disgusting thing I've seen. I have two girls one 9 and the other 4. If I ever see them do anything this devious or stupid, THEY will not be able to hear, see, sit, or stand. Kids that young shouldn't have a myspace either, it isn't something for kids.

To the mother that said that she may have derserved it, please clean out your ears because you obviously don't hear how stupid you sound. This is probably where these kids learned that behavior from. You actually condone your daughters actions to beat the daylights out of someone (STUPID) because they said something about them. There will always be someone in life that may not say good things about others but let it go. What if this girl was killed, it has happened before in other cases.

I'd hate to be that young again, I think the actions that people in the world show today are just horrible and getting worse. At least when I was growing up there was something called respect.

I hope these kids get what they deserve and that's more than just a slap on the hand. You wanted to be famous by posting this on YouTube, well let me congratulate you for becoming famous with the law, and by the way your video was disgusting not cool.

If these girls are also around 16, then they need to be put in a correctional facility until they are 21. Lets face it people these kids are out of control today. Not all, but enough. I still say that good old discipline like it used to be never killed anyone, it made a woman/man out of you. Things are pretty bad when you have good teachers quiting their jobs because they are afraid of some of these kids. You know you really want to sit down and cry when you see and hear about all the things going on in this country.
HAVE A BLESSED DAY EVERYONE.

I just read on CNN...The girls could get life. Their ages ranged from 14 - 18. They are being charge with Kiddnapping amoung other things and being charged as adults. This girl they beat has hearing loss, blurred vision, and a swollen face. After the girls were arrested they were joking about not being able to go to the beach for spring break and one girl joked and wondered she should or shouldn't go to cheerleading practice.

These girls thought nothing was going to happen to them! How arroagant!

What can we expect out of our young people when they have had violence put in front of them from infancy; through video games, internet trash talk my-space, tv, etc. It is truly sad that they are growing up believing that solving problems is to solve them through violence. By the time they reach their teens they are "desensitized" to brutality. Who is raising our children? A lot of parents today are "absent" parents, meaning they have no time for their kids. And some think their little darlings can't do a wrong. Oh to go back to the days when parents really parented the kids. And the schools have very little authority to do anything today either. So again, what can we expect? More violence!
We need to get back to the basics of "family" values.

Parents: Do you know who your kids are hanging out with? Do you know who their friends are? Do you know who their parents are and what kind of family values they have? Do you know what your kids are doing on the internet? Do you know what kinds of grades they are making, or what subjects they are struggling with? Do you know what they do for entertainment?
You'd be surprised at how many parents don't have a clue!

Dr. Phil is a total idiot. Look what he did just to get better ratings. I hope people boycott his show. Why would anyone help any of these animals get out of jail?

Bondsman: Dr. Phil Posted Bond For Teen Accused Of Ringleading Videotaped Beating
The teen accused of masterminding a videotaped "animalistic" attack against a fellow teenage classmate is out on bond, and she has celebrity talk show host Dr. Phil McGraw to thank for it, according to a bail bondsman.

The bondsman told media gathered at a Polk County jail Friday that Dr. Phil posted Mercedes Nichols' $30,000 bond.

When Nichols was released from jail, a man arrived and idenfitied himself as a Dr. Phil producer and ordered local media to leave the area because the Dr. Phil Show had exclusive rights to the story, according to reporters on scene.

The man refused to comment about why Dr. Phil would help someone accused of such a violent crime leave jail, and he would not confirm if Dr. Phil paid for her bond.
