Last Post 16 days, 22 hours Ago

With another school year nearing its end, and myself starting a part time job, the thought came to me "what will my kiddos do while I'm gone 20 hours a week?"  I know what my almost 12 y/o will be doing, she'll be spending a lot of time with my mom.  My 15 y/o, he'll be at home some of the time, he'll be doing summer school and drivers ed for a while.  No summer vacation plans because dad has 81 days left in the Navy.  No yardwork as our property owner has someone hired out to do that.

So, what are your Summer plans?  What will you and your children be doing?  I am hoping for a lighter side of things post.  Time to brighten this place up.  No more cranky posts about all the bad things going on in the world.  Let's be creative!

Unfortunately at that age there just isn't much they can do. We've got a 14, 15, and 17 year old.

The 14 and 15 y/o are too young to find a job, but too old to go to a full time summer camp.

So what do you do?

Let them stay home, call them every 5 minutes and just hope your house is still in one piece.

Look on the Net for idependent Baptist churches in Belton. Then check out the youth programs..you should find something good for your needs.

Have a summer long project. Get them a video cam and have them make a documentary. They could call it something like "How I spent my summer vacation" you could spend evenings editing and they could grow up to be on PBS doing documentaries or in advertising doing commercials. Let their imaginations run wild with claymation Get a junker car and have your son get it ready for when he earns his DL. Hope ya have a good one. 80,79,78,77,....Congrats and thank you.

So I am so glad she will be with me full time now. Decided to get the p.o.s.t. of his signed over to me and fix it up to drive until i can save some more money up to trade it in and buy me a little neon. thats what i want. unless i can find me a light blue convertible beetle. not any of the new ones, an old one for sure!

hmmm i am just remembering something. this will be the first year in both of my kids lives that we did not have a block party the final evening of the last day of school. i lived on a dead end and all our neighbors and lots of kids always had a block party to celebrate. we usually invited to the local fire dept, policemen and they opened up my fire hydrant for the kids. we always cooked hotdgos and chips and cookies, and played 4 square, told scarry stories, then walked up to the graveyard for a midnight romp. sad.....it wont happen anymore. someone else is living in my old house starting this sunday. weird to think about it, but i am soooo glad i am gone!
